Diamond Coated Focusing / Mixing Tubes  for Waterjet-Cutting  Systems

Diamond Product Solutions is the first company who has produced Diamond Coated Focusing / Mixing tubes for Abrasive Waterjet Cutting.

As know, diamond is the hardest material on earth. It has the lowest wear-rate of all materials.

Normaly used tungsten carbide focusing / mixing tubes have a relatively short live-time when used in the abrasive mode. Therefore these focusing - mixing tubes have to be changed on a regular base, having a lot of down-time.

Diamond Product Solutions has overcome this problem with a new approach. Two halves are being coated with a fine nano-crystalline diamond coating by a well known diamond coating company.

Afterwards the cross-sections are being polished to achieve a flat surface. ( see picture)

These two halves are being mounted into the head of a waterjet cutting machine.

Now the abrasive particles are glyding against the diamond coated inside of the focusing / mixing tube. Because of the diamond coating there is virtually no wear.

Advantages are obvious:

1. Longer live-time

2. Stable functioning during its live time

3. Less  downtime.

On this moment the Missouri University of Science and Technology is testing these diamond coated focusing / mixing tubes in a test programm, and afterwards submitting  a paper on these experiments.
